Very interested to see how other people with more experience of piezo 6 strings respond, I'm starting to design one in my head as we speak for a future build. I'm not saying all the above necessarily applies to 6 string guitars, but I would amazed if it didn't. They will be too noisy for quiet sources. One caveat: Guitars are loud, so these circuits have very low gain. Cheap 9v-powered guitar preamps are widely available. On an electric bass if you want an 'upright' bass type sound then your technique is the most important thing - pluck the strings with the fleshy part of your fingers up towards the fingerboard and the second most important thing is your choice of strings, flatwound are best. Easy DIY Pre-Amp: Makes Piezo-Equipped Cigar Box Guitars Sound Better Acoustic guitars often have contact mics (piezo pickups) inside for amplification. It's an over-engineered equivalent of simply turning down the tone a touch. Chambering a body simply makes it less strong and more flexible which means that treble response is reduced. In my opinion there are good reasons for using piezo pickups (eg using non-metallic strings, less feedback, no ugly pickups ruing beautiful wood) but I'm not sure an 'acoustic' sound is one of them, for me anyway. If you double the load, both become less sensitive and additively produce the same signal strength. The most non-musical person in the world though can tell the difference between an upright accoustic bass and an electric bass, and I'm pretty sure the same will be true of an acoustic guitar and an electric guitar. a single coil and have different tone and the preamp circuitry is expecting to see a specific impedance. ![]() Its not going to function like humbucker vs. The single Piezo can be blended with those and give you even more variety, Having a second piezo close to the first capturing the same tones is redundant. Guitar pickups produce different tones along the string and they blend together for different bass and treble tones. You could adjust two preamp/EQ's differently but its pretty futile unless the sources produce different tones. Having a second transducer will require a second preamp and mixing the two signals wont add much you couldn't get with a EQ preamp combo. You'll likely have to blend it with the guitar pickups to be useful for most stuff. If you're placing the transducer under a Tele or Strat type bridge, the tone isn't going to be as good, as it could directly off the string saddles. You get the best sound quality off the saddles themselves so they will produce the best tone. If they are close together, you wont have the phase issue but they wont have any variance in tone so why bother. I have seen this piezo transductor : TRANSDUCTEUR PIEZO 3 A 30 VAC - But now I want to build a preamp for this cht I have seen this post : Idealy, I want to build a model like this but with an adujstable gain. On a solid body, I just don't see any benefit. 1 Hi, I want to build a cheap preamp system for my guitar. You may be able to use two disks set on either side of an acoustic bridge for some stereo like effect but Its likely to fail because the sound board conducts sound from all the strings. Using two contact pickups spaced apart is a bad application. Strings vary in frequency vibrating the wood, so you wind up getting some notes that are additive and loud, and others are subtractive and dead. If you picture a lake and you throw two stones in different parts of the lake, when the waves meet up they may become additive and increase in size or they may be subtractive and the upstroke on one wave cancels the other out. It was unexpected and it took me awhile to figure out it wasn't only a tone issue. If I turn both up it sounds awful because the tones cancel each other and makes the tone sound muted and plastic. Since I glued the disk into place I' stuck with frequency and phase cancellation. In my case, I had placed the disk to the right of the bridge and slightly towards the treble side. If I had installed the disk after the bridge and moved it around to find a sweet spot that complemented the first it could have worked out. ![]() Its not much but it does cause the same kinds of problems with phase two mics do recording the same source of sound. Sound doesn't travel instantly throughout the body and the pickup closest to the string will produce a signal before the more distant pickup. The dick not only sounded muter its had phase problems with the under bridge piezo. I used a disk type in an acoustic, the later added an under bridge type. You'll likely find one is better than the other and the second detracts from the first when they are both used.

Modified EuroScribe brackets (tongue removed, screw holes added) might be a better design if you only do inset trim. The brackets shown can do inset or overlay trim. The bracket is mounted to the trim using the same holes that will be used to mount the Keku connector. It is also possible to use EuroScribe-like brackets (works better than built up connectors for inset scribes) to hold the trim for marking and/or cutting with the QuickScribe. With this method larger setbacks ( 0-19+ mm) are possible using built up connectors that hold the trim while marking it. A 5mm shelf pin is used to index the trim for marking and a system screw is used in the same hole for attaching the bracket / mounting the trim. With the pin method (the videos) a single set of 5mm holes is drilled in the trim (drill bushings in the fingers). With the screw method 0 to ~8mm setbacks or 3, 8 and 16mm overlays are possible. With the screw method (images) two sets of holes are drilled, one set is for marking the scribe line on the trim and the other for mounting the trim. There are three indexing methods - screws, 5mm pins and brackets. Stop spacing can be any increment of 32mm +/- 8 or 16mm. The stops have holes 16mm apart and also mount to the bar with 5mm locating pins. The distance/spacing of the holes/bushings from the bar is dependent on the desired trim thickness, setback and/or overlay. A tape measure and a single finger can be used to mark/drill long runs. The fingers can have VixBit holes or drill bushings and have 5mm locating pins to mount them to the bar. The bar has 5mm holes spaced 32mm apart (16mm at the ends). The jig is made of aluminum and consists of a 1/2 x 1/4" bar (.now 1x1/2 T track), 2" wide x 3/16" thick fingers and 1" wide x 1/4" thick stops. Instead of using the jig, a tape measure and a single 'finger' were used (still not a very good video). In the example I used bottom indexing because the counter overlaps the cabinet (the trim is 8mm shorter than the cabinet).Ī flush/inset face and wall return demo (first attempt and not very good)Ī simple scribe, from start to finish in real time (7min.). a stop is always placed against the top or bottom of the piece being drilled. The only requirement is that the fingers be placed an equal distance from each stop and that you choose top or bottom indexing, i.e. If you click on the image and follow the "Next" buttons (at the top-right of the page), you can follow the process from drilling the box side to setting the scribed trim. While the scribe tool can be adjusted in 32mm (1-1/4") increments, it doesn't require that the cabinets be built using the 32mm system. While the holes can be drilled with a boring machine, I wanted a faster/easier way. In Scribing Cabinet Trim I show two methods of using Keku connectors for scribing/attaching cabinet trim. The authors found the active dextral NW–SE Averroes Fault in the central Alboran Sea (westernmost Mediterranean) has a historical vertical throw of up to 5.4 m at its northwestern tip corresponding to an earthquake of Mw 7.0. Nevertheless, strike-slip faults are usually disregarded as major triggers, as they are thought to be capable of generating only moderate seafloor deformation accordingly, the tsunamigenic potential of the vertical throw at the tips of strike-slip faults is not thought to be significant. Tsunamis are triggered by sudden seafloor displacements, and usually originate from seismic activity at faults. In this publication, the authors modelled the tsunamigenic potential of this seafloor deformation by Tsunami-HySEA software using the Coulomb 3.3 code. |
